Zhanna Goldfine

I was born in Kiev (capital of Ukraine) when it was still a part of the Soviet Union. Since childhood, I was interested in the mysterious workings of the human psyche and wanted to understand what creates human suffering and happiness.

After immigrating to America in 1989, I pursued my passion for science, received a B.S. in Computer Engineering and for many years worked as a software developer for large corporations, while also studying photography, experimental filmmaking and modern dance. In 1998 I moved to San Francisco to study Buddhism, Yoga and Transpersonal Psychology.

I received an M.A. in Clinical Counseling Psychology (concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy) from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2004 and became a Certified Integral Yoga Teacher in 2005.

During my 4 year clinical internship I worked with children, adolescents, adults and seniors at JFCS, RAMS, Highschool Wellness Program and Living Arts Counseling Center in San Francisco under the supervision of Brant Cortright, Ph.D.

I became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2008 and continue independent studies in Transpersonal Psychology, world spiritual traditions, sacred sexuality and all forms of artistic expression. I currently accept new clients in my offices in San Francisco and specialize in the following areas:

  • Spiritual and existential issues
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Relationship issues
  • Sexuality
  • Creative self-expression
  • Adolescent problems

Please, contact me for a short free phone consultation to determine if you'd like to work with me.
Thank you for your interest in my work.
